SavvyLion Publishing develops and produces college-level textbooks and other classroom materials in print or digital forms. Founded by and designed exclusively for college authors, SavvyLion is a cooperative in which authors participate in the financial success of the company. The company is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

MISSION

The mission of SavvyLion Publishing is to provide the highest quality publishing services to college authors at the lowest textbook prices to students.

FOUNDERS

Dr. Porto is director of the highly ranked Executive Masters Programs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a position he has held for more than 24 years. He teaches distance and residential courses in the master’s and baccalaureate programs. He earned his Ph.D. in Public Policy from UNC-Chapel Hill, his Master of Public Administration from North Carolina State University and his B.A. from Duke University.

Dr. Hobbs holds a doctorate in public health from the Department of Health Policy and Management in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There she directs the acclaimed Executive Doctoral Program in Health Leadership (DrPH) and teaches in the master’s and doctoral programs. A registered and licensed dietitian, she holds a joint faculty appointment in the UNC Department of Nutrition. She is the author of numerous consumer books on diet and health and writes ‘On The Table,’ a weekly newspaper column for the News and Observer in Raleigh, N.C.

Mr. Johnston is a adjunct instructor in health law in the Executive Masters Program in Health Policy Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a position he has held for more than 20 years. He is retired as Special Deputy Attorney General in the North Carolina Department of Justice and as legal notes editor of the International Journal of Museum Management and Curatorship.

Mr. Sexton is the owner of a successful 5 person online marketing company. He is looking forward to helping the SavvyLion team jump to the ranks of notoriety online, through inbound marketing. Mr. Sexton received a bachelors degree from North Carolina State University.

Mr. Pinder is the Director of Marketing and Communications for Centennial Campus, a research park and technology campus owned and operated by NC State University. He teaches marketing as a guest instructor for the UNC-Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health and has taught journalism and business writing at the college level. Mr. Pinder holds a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University.
